The EPA is set to finalize a plan to clean up the Portland Harbor before the end of the year, and your chance to speak up for the economy and the environment will close on September 6, 2016. The living-wage jobs of 30,000 people depend on the harbor and an overly expensive cleanup could hurt small businesses and cost hundreds of jobs each year without additional environmental and health benefits.
The Willamette River is the lifeblood for Oregonians but it is also the home to many businesses and jobs on our working waterfront. We all want a cleaner Willamette River. We need a plan that supports health, recreation and wildlife while protecting local jobs, small businesses and our economy.
Please submit your comment and let the EPA know we need a cleanup plan that protects the environment AND local jobs.
Tell EPA you care about a smart, cost-effective cleanup!
“A sufficient natural public benefit of the river must be restored, assuring recreation and healthy fish runs; while harbor industries at the center of the region's economy, picking up the lion's share of the tab for the cleanup, must go unharmed.”
